Choosing Between An eBook, Audiobook, And Print
The good news is that books are now available in multiple formats. You can find a book in the regular print copy, eBook, or Audiobook. Mixing up formats will allow you to choose what best works for you- your preference, depending on the time of day, or the activity you are doing. Also, some of the apps allow syncing so that you can easily switch between an eBook to an audiobook.
The best part Audiobook and eBook readers such as Audible and Kindle are available on phones, tablets, and computers. These tools make it easy to access your book anywhere you want.
Physical Books
Nothing beats holding a book in your hands, the feel of the weight, the cover, that new book smell, and the feel of the paper are unlike anything else.
Also, Physical books allow you to build your own library display, a form of decor – something to look back on and be proud of. It can also stand as a great conversation piece.
The Drawbacks of Physical Books:
Books take up space, they need care and cleaning, and depending on how you care for them: it’s prone to page discoloration.
Audiobooks
Audiobooks are perfect for people who live in small spaces or for those who are on the go and move around a lot.
It’s ideal because audiobooks only live on the device, you choose to keep them on, like your cellphone which you carry around. This gives you access to your books wherever you are or wherever you go. All you need are your headphones.
The Drawbacks of Audiobooks:
Audiobooks might not take up physical space, but they do take up a lot of space on your device. When used, it will consume power, so whichever device you use either need to remain plugged into a power source or have a well-charged battery.
Ebooks
One of the biggest advantages of eBooks is that they are environment-friendly since they require no paper. They are comparatively cheaper and available online on your ebook store. Digital books only require a device like an eReader to carry around with you and you can store hundreds of books in your library.
For those who have trouble reading book-sized fonts, ebook readers are capable of enlarging fonts, you can highlight, save pages, search for a text, and change the background.
The Drawbacks of Ebooks :
Unlike print, eReaders have an unreliable lifespan, you can’t expect them to last forever. Another concern is that reading for hours from an LCD screen could lead to certain eye problems.
Is One Better Than The Other?
You don’t have to choose between the mediums. You can alternate depending on your situation and preference.
