Neglecting the promises we make to ourselves is a common oversight, but have you ever

Neglecting the promises we make to ourselves is a common oversight, but have you ever considered your self-reputation?

It goes beyond mere commitment; it’s about the respect you give yourself and the nurturing of your self-esteem.

Often, we perceive promises as something solely for others, overlooking their significance in our narratives.

Did you know that consistently honoring promises to ourselves can profoundly impact various aspects of our lives? This ranges from building self-trust and boosting self-confidence to fostering positive relationships and leading a life of integrity.

Could the key to unlocking your potential be as simple as committing to the promises you make to yourself? Let’s embark on this journey together and unravel the mystery that lies within.

What Is The Psychology Of Breaking A Promise?

Breaking promises sends a message that we don’t value someone, choosing something else over our commitment.

It damages trust, affecting relationships and creating doubts about our dependability. But this doesn’t just apply to others; it also impacts promises we make to ourselves.

When we break commitments to our goals, it undermines our self-trust and confidence. Unkept promises, whether to others or ourselves, create tiny fractures in trust, shaping our relationships and internal beliefs.

How Keeping Promises Can Lead to Success

Keeping promises is more than a commitment; it’s a roadmap to success.

When we consistently honor our commitments, whether to ourselves or others, we build a foundation of trust and reliability.

This foundation becomes a catalyst for personal and professional success. It fosters a positive reputation, strengthens relationships, and enhances our sense of integrity.

Each fulfilled promise is a step forward, creating a momentum that propels us toward achieving our goals.

In the realm of success, the act of keeping promises becomes a powerful force, shaping a path of accomplishment and fulfillment.

1. Embrace Small Changes for Big Results

The journey to a healthier you begins with small, manageable steps. Instead of overwhelming yourself with drastic changes, start by incorporating small habits into your daily routine.

This could include taking the stairs instead of the elevator, going for short walks during breaks, or even standing up and stretching every hour. These seemingly insignificant adjustments can accumulate into noticeable improvements in your overall fitness level.

2. Find an Activity You Enjoy

Exercise doesn’t have to be a dreaded chore; it can be an enjoyable activity that you look forward to. Experiment with various forms of exercise until you find something that resonates with you.

It could be dancing, swimming, cycling, or even playing a sport. By engaging in an activity you genuinely enjoy, you’re more likely to stay motivated and committed to your fitness routine.

3. Set Realistic Goals

Setting realistic goals is crucial when you’re starting your fitness journey. Unrealistic expectations can lead to frustration and demotivation.

Begin by setting achievable milestones that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). For example, you can aim to walk for 30 minutes three times a week initially and gradually increase the duration and intensity as you progress.

4. Incorporate Exercise into Your Daily Routine

One of the most effective ways to overcome laziness and make exercise a habit is by integrating it into your daily routine. Schedule specific times for physical activity and treat them as non-negotiable appointments with yourself.

Whether it’s early morning workouts, lunchtime yoga sessions, or evening strolls, consistency is key. Eventually, exercising will become a natural and indispensable part of your day.

Try this challenge: TRANSFORM IN 75 DAYS: UNLEASH YOUR POTENTIAL WITH THE 75-DAY CHALLENGE

5. Seek Accountability and Support

Having someone to hold you accountable can significantly boost your motivation and help you stay on track. Consider joining fitness classes or finding a workout buddy who shares your goals.

You can also explore online communities and forums dedicated to fitness, where you can connect with like-minded individuals, share experiences, and find inspiration.

6. Make Fitness Fun and Varied

Boredom is often a significant deterrent to maintaining a consistent fitness routine. To combat this, keep your workouts interesting by introducing variety. Alternate between different exercises, try new fitness classes or outdoor activities, or challenge yourself with fitness apps and games.

By infusing an element of fun and novelty, you’ll be more inclined to stick to your fitness routine in the long run.

7. Prioritize Rest and Recovery

Rest and recovery are essential aspects of any fitness journey, especially if you consider yourself lazy. Pushing yourself too hard without allowing adequate time for rest can lead to burnout and demotivation.

Listen to your body and provide it with the rest it needs. Remember, taking a day off doesn’t equate to failure; it’s an essential part of the process.

8. Stay Consistent, Even on “Lazy” Days

We all have days when we feel particularly lazy or unmotivated. However, it’s crucial to push through those moments and remain consistent with your fitness routine.

On such days, lower the intensity or duration of your workout if needed, but make sure you still engage in some physical activity. Remember, every small effort counts, and staying consistent will yield results in the long term.

9. Celebrate Your Progress

Don’t forget to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem. Recognize the effort you’re putting into prioritizing your fitness and reward yourself.

Treat yourself to something you enjoy—a relaxing massage, a new workout outfit, or a healthy meal at your favorite restaurant. Celebrating milestones will reinforce your commitment to a healthier lifestyle.

Lastly, shift your perspective and focus on the numerous benefits of regular exercise and a fit lifestyle. Exercise not only improves your physical health but also enhances your mental well-being, boosts energy levels, reduces stress, and promotes better sleep.

By recognizing the positive impact fitness has on all aspects of your life, you’ll find renewed motivation to continue your journey toward a healthier you.

Remember, even small steps can lead to significant progress. By implementing these tips, you can overcome the barriers of time, energy, and motivation and create a healthier and more active lifestyle.

A new year, a new chance, a new life that’s the common mantra. It’s interesting

A new year, a new chance, a new life that’s the common mantra. It’s interesting that most people have to set a date that the “New Year” is the perfect time to start making changes. But do we really need to wait for January 1, to make those changes?

Did you know that more than half of all new year’s resolutions fail? That means 92 (or 88) out of 100 New Year’s Resolutions end in incomplete and utter failure and research even shows that the majority give up within one to six weeks of starting.

The Mindset Shift

I myself practiced this hyped mantra for years and have utterly failed, why? because the mindset of waiting for the new year already questions your commitment to your resolutions, it also highlights the excutitis disease – meaning the behavior of a person that finds all sorts of excuses to justify their behavior, performance, delay, or lack of action.

Seriously if we want to make a change we should just start the moment the goal enters our mind regardless of the date. That makes the decision more concrete.

It All Comes Down To Your Why

People tend to wait for the new year to start making changes because their goals could either be excessively difficult objectives and delaying it until the new year gives one more time to continue the behavior or practice, or relatively easy goals that can be taken for granted.

The loophole for failed resolutions can easily be blamed on a lack of time, resources, or motivation which is really an excuse because if you need to change for your health, for your business, or whatever it is, there’s no stopping you. You would do it immediately, especially if your health is on the line or the stakes are high.

Time-Consuming but Effective

It doesn’t matter if the resolution is to start a new habit or to give up an addiction; it all comes down to planning, consistency, and dedication. Sadly that is not something that happens overnight.

Thinking long term might not be as glamorous as the “new year’s resolution hype” because of the timeframe involved. Goal-getting, building habits, and changing your mindset take time. You need to identify and unravel skills you’d like to improve, experience setbacks, learn new things, and lose motivation but still be committed despite the challenges. It’s a daunting task but it’s the only way to lasting change.

Long term vs Short Term

Nowadays, instant gratification is making us perpetually impatient. Everyone wants fast results but things of value take time to achieve. That’s part of why they actually have value. So why not consider making a more stable, long-term 3-5 year plan?

Resolution: a decision to do or not to do something.

Goal: the object of a person’s ambition; an aim or desired result.

They may sound similar, but in my experience, the mindset and approach are different. When it comes to the process of change it’s important that you understand that change takes time, it takes energy, it takes effort, and a lot of patience from your end.

Sometimes you can give so much for very little in return (at least that’s what it seems). The value of patience allows you to commit to long-term results and outcomes, and not get discouraged by short-term setbacks.

A 3 Year Plan isn’t like a grocery list of goals, such as:

Become a successful entrepreneur

Lose weight

Earn more money

Learn a new language

Live in a new country

Eat healthily

If you take a closer look- all of the listed plans above do not take place overnight, or in a month- these are long-term goals that leave lasting effects. It needs an organized work plan which includes sub-goals and set deadlines.

Goals should not be rigid.

Goals provide a direction to follow to achieve the desired outcome.

Goals involve intention setting, planning, preparing, and taking REALISTIC action.

Ney years resolutions are sometimes not realistic, especially with the timeframe involved.

6 Actionable Solutions

To progressively develop the necessary habits needed to achieve your plan you will need a list of specific intentions, actions, and activities that you need to partake in on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis over an extended period of time.

Making permanent changes in your life will require that you get uncomfortable by doing things that create uncertainty which may very well manifest in fear. You need to be ready mentally because achieving your goals will have more to do with your state of mind than anything else.

Step 1: Reflection

What matters most to me?

What is currently missing in my life?

Why do I need to change?

Why do I need to stop this behavior or practice?

How would I like to grow and develop as a person?

What kind of person would I like to become?

What’s one goal above all others that I would like to achieve this coming year?

Step 2: Outline Your Goals

Define your goals. This, of course, is best done on paper. A goal that isn’t down on paper is nothing more than a fleeting dream that you hope will materialize one of these days.

Make your goals “smarter”

Successful goals are goals that are well thought out and doable. Smart goals are specific, achievable, realistic, and timely.

S H O P . N O W

Step 3. Create a System to reach those goals

Systems are arguably more important than the goals themselves. Changing behavior is the hardest part of a goal. Just as the system in a health goal would be to go to the gym 3-5 times a week or do meal prep on Sundays. The solution to this is to build a system for your goals.

Define the “How” to Make Your Goals a Reality

One way to make meaningful progress towards your aspirations is to cut your actual goals into smaller micro-habits that require less effort and mental strain. The lesser pressure makes it easier to sustain and will collectively drive you closer to your end goal.

James Clear author, researcher, and entrepreneur outlined in his highly-acclaimed and international best-selling book Atomic Habits the clear steps that anyone can take to gradually build good habits and break bad ones.

Step 4: Take Action

This is where many people often go wrong. Like a New Year’s resolution, people just jump straight into the race in a massive sprint, never realizing that they have just entered a marathon. In other words, they take so much action early that they quickly get tired, burnt out, overwhelmed, and demotivated when they don’t see visible results.

Step 5: Maintain Consistency

It’s very possible that the actions you take may very well bring about inconsistent results. In fact, for a period of time, even though you are doing all the right things, you might not see visible results at all. This can, of course, be quite disheartening, and it certainly gives you a reason to quit. However, seeing no results doesn’t mean you are not making any progress.

Progress isn’t always measured in results, it’s measured by your actions.

Step 6: Keep Yourself Accountable

The final step to attaining your plan is to hold yourself accountable for your choices, decisions, and actions as you make progress along your journey. Holding yourself accountable means being honest with yourself at all times.

Consistency, of course, is the key. The more consistent you are the better your results will be over the long haul. Remember that this isn’t about reaching perfection. This is about creating sustainable change over time. And the only solution to create sustainable change is by taking things one step at a time.

Productivity is getting the results you want with less time and effort. So when you’re

Productivity is getting the results you want with less time and effort. So when you’re trying to understand how to be productive, what you’re really seeking is a way to achieve your goals while having time to spend on what matters. Which means building simple consistent hacks that will boost Productivity.

The Goal Of Being Productive

The goal is to achieve successful milestones with fewer resources, time, and effort. Therefore, you need to develop a consistent and repeatable process that helps you do the work effectively and efficiently. This is achievable by shifting the focus from obsessing about the outcome to the process of achieving that outcome.

The fact is most of us have spent years cultivating our life and work habits whether good or bad, consciously or subconsciously. Unfortunately, those won’t change immediately, deliberate choices have to be made and an efficient process is needed.

Small adjustments can lead to more lasting changes, but those may take time and discipline. It looks really easy when you’re reading a productivity article like this but it’s not. Motivation and deadlines can boost your capacity to achieve short-term goals. But finding meaningful patterns that could advance your long-term productivity can be challenging.

But you have a choice. One thing to note is that doing more of the small tasks is actually doing less by focusing on things that matter and having solid control over the process to achieve desired outcomes. Determination and patience is the key.

Charles Duhigg defines productivity as “making certain choices in certain ways” that move us from being “merely busy” to “genuinely productive” in his book Smarter Faster Better.

15 Productivity Tips That Will Change Your Life

1. List it Out!

Planning and Prioritizing things helps one save both time and energy. This allows you to set a Perfect Work-Life Balance.

Personally, I prefer to mix & match the old-fashioned pen-to-paper planners and to-do lists with their tech counterparts. Some really good apps include Notion, Google Calendar, and Todoist. I also prefer to prepare my list a week in advance for routines, habits, and goals then tweak it a day or night before for some tasks that need to be achieved the following day.

2. Eat the Frog

As Mark Twain once said “If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.” Eating the frog means “Just do it”, otherwise, the frog will eat you-meaning that you’ll end up procrastinating the whole day.

Here’s a great resource from Author Brian Tracy: Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time

TIP: Every morning or the night before, write or mark down your top three tasks for the day. Be clear with what you write and use more than a three-word description.

“Do the hard jobs first. The easy jobs will take care of themselves.” -Dale Carnegie, American writer

3. Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.

A Pomodoro is 25 minutes because it’s the perfect length of time to help you not procrastinate, be productive, create urgency and help you stay focused on any task you are tackling.

For most of us, time is an enemy. We race against the clock to finish work and deadlines – this technique teaches you to work with time, instead of struggling against it.

4. The Five-Minute Rule

Small tasks pop up throughout the day, but you don’t want to waste time contemplating whether or not you should do them.

It’s best to go by the rule “If it doesn’t take more than 5 minutes, just do it!“, this way some of the menial everyday tasks don’t stack up. If it takes more than five minutes then schedule the task in your planner write it just below your top three tasks for the day and take care of it later.

Learn more from Mel Robbins book: The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage

5. Batching

Task batching is a planning process that groups similar activities together to improve focus and productivity. Batching tasks works because you’re maintaining the same frame of mind for all the tasks involved.

An example: Batching your “social tasks” together, like emails, text messages, and voice mails. It’s either you batch by time blocks or schedule by days. Always batch similar tasks together when planning your day or week, it’ll definitely make your work process flow smoothly.

“Focus on being productive instead of busy.” -Tim Ferriss, American podcaster, author, and entrepreneur

6. Time Blocking

As defined by the app Todoist “Time blocking is a time management method that asks you to divide your day into blocks of time. Each block is dedicated to accomplishing a specific task, or group of tasks.

Start with your high-level priorities

Set aside time for both Challenging & Easy tasks

Schedule your breaks (not just lunch)

Write down your daily to-do list (for work, home, and family/social) and fill it up

Overestimate how long things will take (at least to start)

Add blocks for reactive tasks each day

Place buffers in between tasks

Put in time for downtime, relaxation, and learning

It’s not always that we need to do more but rather that we need to focus on less. It’s about maximizing what we do with the time that we have.

7. Schedule in Buffer time

Buffer time is extra time added to a task or service duration for unplanned things. For example, if you have a 25-minute meeting, but you know there will be some small conversations with colleagues afterward, then add a 10-minute buffer time before you proceed to your next work.

8. Prioritize and Set Deadlines

There isn’t time to do everything so make sure you prioritize your MVT (Most Valuable Task). Also, you’re more likely to get things done when you have a deadline to work towards.

9. Multitasking Is Not 100% Effective

We want to get all things done for the day and so we like to multitask. The problem with multitasking especially when we pair it with important tasks is that the focus will not be 100% on that task. So if you have 3 things to do on your list give your all on one task before moving to the next, in this way you’ll produce a better and faster output.

10. Break Down Tasks

When you are faced with a big task, it helps if you break the task down into smaller, more manageable parts. This will help you avoid stress and procrastination.

The solution is to work in short bursts with breaks in between compared to long intervals of work and rest. This will help keep your momentum going and give your mind a breather to think better and a body that’s not too drained.

The form you have selected does not exist.

11. Organize, Organize, Organize

Be organized by filing and keeping things where you can find them. An organized space has fewer distractions giving you the power to think more freely and positively, which ultimately promotes productivity.

Dr. Augustin explains. “Too much clutter can signal a lack of control and confuse that sense of identity.”

12. Automation Is A Time Saver

Automation improves the accuracy and consistency of workflows. It helps you save time, and get a handle on some of those more time-consuming, menial tasks you have on your schedule. Find time in your schedule to automate some of your tasks in advance, in this way you can do all the rest in batches.

If you need to promote online, on social media, or send emails- apps like Tailwind, Convertkit, and Crowdfire are your best bet.

13. Block Out Distractions

Distractions have a huge cost on our focus and productivity. Every time we get distracted, we pay a price for wasted time. According to Gloria Mark, a University of California professor who studies interruptions, she said: “it takes an average of 23 minutes and 15 seconds to get back to the task.”

Interruptions are inevitable, but that doesn’t mean you have to face them unprepared. From email notifications, social media, games, ebooks, apps, etc. tech devices lead the way as the #1 tool for distractions nowadays. Make it a practice to turn off your notifications and block out anything else that might distract you.

14. Practice Note Taking

With so much information flooding in throughout your day. It’s impossible to remember everything. Don’t rely on your thoughts and ideas, you need to write them down.

15. Just Start And Keep Going

“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.” Bill Gates

Being more productive can make life easier for you, especially if you commit to the system that will work best in keeping you on top of things. There are many benefits of personal productivity. The biggest benefit of productivity is that it leads to a fulfilled and happy life.
